Everybody wants to own a piece of history, and for the most part, that's great! The line has to be drawn somewhere, and we might have found it. You can now buy preserved poop from a previous Kentucky Derby winner.

Yes, you read that right. Kentucky artist Coleman Larkin has been collecting droppings from 1997 Kentucky Derby winner, Silver Charm, and encasing them in clear epoxy for all to see. Silver Charm is the great-great-grandson of famed racehorse War Admiral, is considered one of the 100 greatest racehorses of the 20th century, and was inducted into the United States Racing Hall of Fame in 2007; who wouldn't want a literal part of this horse?

Larkin, at least, has a sense of humor about the situation. "The most difficult step is probably the one where I have to ask the type of people that own million-dollar Thoroughbreds if I can please have some horse turds to put in jars,” he said in a statement. You can buy one of these pieces of history at the Kentucky by Kentucky online store for a whopping $200. Does the price seem a little steep? Don't worry, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Old Friends Farm, a nonprofit Thoroughbred retirement facility in Georgetown, KY, where Silver Charm has lived since his retirement.

Derby Turds are the first step in a Dixieland Preserves line of Southern resin encapsulations by Larkin, so who knows what else we should expect to see. They went on sale May 1, so if you're desperate to get one for yourself, you probably shouldn't wait since (preserved) supplies are limited.
