Over $3 Million Going to Bars & Restaurants in MI For COVID-19 Relief
Bars and restaurants have taken a big hit to their normal business throughout the pandemic, and thankfully, they'll be given some relief by the state.
Governor Whitmer signed an executive order that will provide $3.3 million to 657 bars and restaurants in the state. This gives each business just over $5,000.
The buyback program, in conjunction with the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) offers a 100% cash buyback to places that sell liquor & had ordered from the commission prior to March 16, when the stay-at-home order went into effect. A chair person from the MLCC said
We’re extremely pleased to provide these neighborhood bars and restaurants across Michigan a financial lifeline they can count on in these uncertain times.
Bars and restaurants in Michigan will remain closed (unless take-out or delivery) until May 28th.
