One Town Is Considering A Ban On Distracted Walking
The city of Stamford is hoping to charge distracted walkers a $30 fine.
Pedestrian fatalities are up 11% and city representatives want to combat this by introducing a consequence for walkers who are looking down at their phones rather than paying attention to traffic.
Sure, seatbelt and helmet laws are meant to protect citizens from themselves, but is this really necessary? And how will it be regulated? We’re not sure common sense laws like this are fair.
