Can you imagine going to college tuition-free? It is an option that one Michigan college is offering as a tuition-free guarantee.

College Tuition
Michigan has annual in-state college tuition of nearly $16,000 for one academic year. If you look at Michigan as compared to other states, the Mitten is the 22nd most expensive state to attend college but at the same time the 31st most affordable to attend college.
You would think the University of Michigan would be the most expensive but they are not. Actually, Kalamazoo College has the highest tuition of any university in the state averaging just under $54,000 a year to attend.

Tuition-Free College
Former presidential candidate and current U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders talked about tuition-free college. You may or may not agree with his ideas but at least he said it out loud and some colleges have found ways to actually make tuition lower and some tuition free.
The tuition-free model is available to in-state students only with families with incomes of $70,000 or less.
What Michigan College is Offering a Free Tuition Program?
According to WOOD, Wayne State University in Detroit announced a guarantee that it covers the full cost of tuition and standard fees that uses federal, state, and Wayne State scholarships and grants.
If you are a lower-income family and think college is out of the question for your kids, Wayne State may be the option for your children. If you have students who plan on attending college in the fall of 2023 you will need to apply for Federal Student Aid and also apply at Wayne State by April 1st to see if your student is eligible for the program.
