This is my dog Jake and this was when he was a puppy. Jake is much bigger now but he is the only dog my son and I have and could handle. Making sure he is fed properly, taken to the bathroom, exercised, and kept clean and healthy is a daily job. I couldn't imagine having two dogs let alone nearly 80 to care for.

The photo above is from after the 78 dogs were rescued. Complaints had been coming in for quite some time regarding an excessive number of dogs that were living in a shelter that was only being taken care of by one person.  A job that certainly would require more space and nearly 20 people to handle in order to keep the dogs in a safe and clean environment.

As you can see by the size of the shelter that some of the dogs are staying in, 78 dogs is a lot to look after and need a lot of space. Pound Buddies is one of the shelters that is located in Muskegon that has jumped in to help but now they are maxed out and need people willing to adopt. Not to mention the need for donations and some extra volunteers to help care for the animals.

It is heartbreaking but at the same time, if you are looking for a dog to adopt, there are some good-looking dogs that are now located at Pound Buddies to choose from. Some of the dogs brought in needed medical attention. Some of the dogs have been taken to the Muskegon Humane Society and in Ottaway County at Harbor Humane Society. All three centers can use donations, volunteers, and people willing to adopt.
