It's that time of the year where lots of people get the blues. Cold weather, shorter days, and the holiday fun is over. But, if you're looking to catch a vibe now that all of the Christmas lights are being put away, you're still in luck.

Kent County Commissioner Monica Sparks has come up with a solution to the wintertime blues. She's calling it the Mobile Happy Lights Relaxation Station, also known as Matilda. (Which sounds more like a friend than a B Side REM track)

Commissioner Sparks says "Inside is your own private heave of solace, relaxation and many different lighting therapies that are FDA cleared and approved."

The bus cost $40,000 to convert and includes various light therapies and halotherapy.

Commissioner Sparks has a passion for mental health awareness, and says that "Studies in science show us that 20 minutes — like the power nap — 20 minutes can help boost your mood, improve productivity, and help your overall well-being,"

Sometimes therapy isn't affordable or accessible to everyone, so what Commissioner Sparks has set out into the community will not only bring joy to people who need it the most, but it's also COVID safe so people can have this experience without worry.

The dream is for this mobile truck to grow from a single unit, to become a fleet that can help people in West Michigan for years to come.

Thanks to sponsors, Mobile Happy Lights will be available for the community to check out for free at Calder Plaza from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Jan. 13 and 20.
