Wine consultant Jennifer Quail is in second place heading into tonight's final round, hoping to win the $250,000 jackpot.

Michigan put a remarkable three contestants out of the final 15 into the famed TV game show Jeopardy's Tournament of Champions, so it would only go to figure that one is still alive.

Quail, who hails from Dowagiac, trails leader Sam Cavanaugh by $23,500 in the two day accumulative championship round. It seems daunting, but stranger things have happened on Jeopardy.

The show airs tonight at 7:30pm on WWMT-TV.

In addition to Quail, the Mitten State was represented in the quarterfinals by Andy Wood from Ann Arbor, who was ousted by Cavanaugh on May 21, and by Grosse Pointe Choral Director Ben Henri, who lost to Kevin Walsh on May 20.

Quail, meanwhile, racked up $20,650 in winning her quarterfinal match on May 19, advancing her to this week's semi-finals, which she also won with a total of $29,999, putting her into the two day final against Cavanaugh and Veronica Vichit-Vadakan.

After the opening day of competition, Cavanagh leads with $38,000 to Quail's $14,500. Vichit-Vadakan is in third with $6,400.

Quail owns the second highest winning total by a woman when she racked up $228,000 during her win streak back in December of 2019.

In the semi-finals Quail got tossed a question about a town not too far from where she lives. The no-brainer question for any Michigander was this one:

Category: It's a Mirage.
And the answer:  The name of this city that's home to Western Michigan University may be from a Potawatomi word for "mirage".

Anyone want to fathom a guess? Look, if you don't know the answer to that one, you need to move.

If you missed last night's finals, you can watch it now.
