Matt Thompson, known as the "maker of mostly ridiculous and unnecessary things" with over a million followers on Instagram, is a woodworker based here in Michigan who is known for his mixture of impressive and wacky contraptions like a chair that pours your wine for you, a chair that gives you the a back, scalp, and foot massage at the same time, and a rubegoldberg machine that has over 407 MILLION views on YouTube. It's safe to say he's had some pretty ingenious creations over the years.

He is a skilled carpenter who knows how to have fun with his craft. In a way, he's sort of like an everyman's Mythbuster. His backyard "man cave" is his crowning achievement, capped off with a model train track that chugs around his entire backyard.
