Michigan State Police Trooper Injured in Motorcycle Crash in Rockford Passes Away
The Michigan State Police Trooper who was involved in a motorcycle crash in Rockford Wednesday morning has passed away.
The Michigan State Police released a statement Wednesday afternoon, stating that Tpr. Timothy O’Neill of the Rockford Post passed away due to injuries sustained in the crash.
Michigan State Police Colonel Kriste Kibbey Etue released a statement, saying,
It is with a very heavy heart that I confirm the death of one of our own, Tpr. Timothy O’Neill. I ask that you please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers in the difficult days ahead.
Tpr. O’Neill was on patrol on his department motorcycle Wednesday morning when he was involved in a crash Plainfield Township. No one else was injured, and the crash remains under investigation.
O'Neill, who was 28-years-old, began his work with the MSP in 2014.
He is survived by his mother, father, brother, sister and fiancé. He was set to be married in less than a month, on October 7, 2017.
Trooper O'Neill's body was escorted away from Spectrum Hospital Wednesday afternoon by members of several different law enforcement agencies.
