Each year The New York Times releases a list of the nation's top restaurants. As their staff is full of dessert lovers, they also make sure to pay attention to eateries' sweet offerings. Just one Michigan spot has landed on the magazine's "14 Best Restaurant Desserts We Ate This Year" list.
Why the New York Times Loved This Cherry Pie
Congratulations to The Cherry Hut Restaurant in Beulah!
In particular The Times raves about its cherry pie, saying,
This slice manifests all your favorite fantasies of what an ideal cherry pie should be... [It} wallops you on several fronts: flavor, technical skill, and nostalgia. The cherries are sour, as they must be. The filling is overly generous. And the paper-thin lard crust on top and bottom gives just enough fat and salt to counter the tart sweetness of those impeccable ruby red fruits.
A Michigan Restaurant Serving Pie Since 1922
The Cherry Hut Restaurant has been serving up yummy pies since 1922. Keep in mind that it closes each year for winter and will reopen in May. However, they also have a retail location in Benzonia, where yes, you can get pies, but also jams, other goodies, and merchandise.

What Else You Can Order at The Cherry Hut
As far as the restaurant—it's adorable and definitely gives off old-school diner vibes.
In addition to sweet treats like sundaes and cinnamon rolls, you'll find a variety of sandwiches and salads, plus dinner entrees like roasted turkey and hand-battered cod.
Can't make it Up North? The Cherry Hut does sell some of its products online (although sadly not its pies—yet!) like jams, salsas, dried cherries, and candy.
