The restaurant serving up the top fried chicken in Michigan? According to Lovefood, it's Ma Lou's in Ypsilanti.

Buy chicken by the piece or order it up on a sandwich, salad, or wrap. According to Eater Detroit what makes Ma Lou's Southern-style fried chicken so delicious are quality ingredients, plus it's double-dipper in an airy batter and fried to order. You can pick from three spice options: Classic Southern, Medium, or Spicy AF.

Here's what one reviewer says of Ma Lou's chicken:

The chicken is flavorful and moist. The crust is salty, crispy and not overly greasy. The southern style was great. The medium spice level has a definite kick but is not so hot as to be unenjoyable. If you're chasing that capsaicin dragon, I am sure the "spicy AF" heat level will do the trick for you.

Previously, Lovefood declared Ma Lou's served the best chicken sandwich in Michigan, specifically shouting out the OG which combines fried breast or thigh with Cheddar, smoked Gouda, slaw, and pickles.

Their other pick is the Hot Chick, in which the fried chicken is finished with a Nashville hot baste and served with bacon, lettuce, tomato, jalapeño ranch, and pepper Jack cheese.
