MGK Recognizes Teacher Who Sneakily Quotes His Lyrics To Her Students During Concert
Yesterday, mgk (Machine Gun Kelly), Wiz Khalifa, and Mod Sun put on an incredibly memorable show at the Acrisure Amphitheater for multiple reasons. For one, it was the first show to test the amphitheater's severe-weather protocols after rain and severe weather were forecast for much of the day (thankfully, aside from a few drops halfway through, the rain stayed away).

Then, mgk had some choice words for residents in the area who have been complaining about the noise from the Amphitheater, namely one big middle finger and playing all the way to the 11 p.m. curfew. It was a night of punk, with multiple bras thrown onstage and some touching interactions with the crowd.

The most touching moment of the night came from an impromptu meeting between mgk and, in his words, "a teacher who has been posting on TikTok telling my lyrics to her classroom every morning."
Jessica Woods' Classroom Lyric Quotes Series
On January 5th, Jessica Wood, a 3rd-grade teacher in West Michigan, uploaded a video to her TikTok page of herself talking to her students while casually dropping the line "I was born to walk the line" in the midst of it. That was a reference to the song "outlaw overture" from Lost Americana, with the video garnering 26k views.
"I saw him in Chicago in December, so when I got back from Christmas break, I wanted to bring my 'human' side into the classroom. His music is a big part of my life. So this was how I did it," Jessica stated. Since then, she's kept that series going, ending the school year on Day 77, only stopping because she had to take time off after a house fire.

It seems one of those viewers was mgk himself, because during the show last night, he jumped off stage and spoke to Jessica, who was standing at the barricade. Jessica stated she had no idea he would mention her, let alone speak to her. He expressed his enjoyment of her series and shared a quote to pass along to her students.
The quote comes from the book The Poetic Edda by Jackson Crawford:
There is no man so good he has no flaw, nor no man so bad he's good for nothing.
This quote, about everyone being imperfect and everyone capable of redemption, is the kind of message that has made Jessica a fan of his for the last 15 years. "His story is all about no matter what you've been through in life, you can grow and heal."

Once the school year starts again, she plans to continue her series. As for mgk, he's wrapping up this leg of his tour this month. He is livestreaming his concert this Saturday for anyone who hasn't seen his show yet, or cough if you were in Detroit and their show was canceled because of rain cough.
