Metallica have postponed upcoming shows in Australia and New Zealand as James Hetfield seeks treatment for addiction.

The band shared the news on Facebook saying, "As most of you probably know, our brother James has been struggling with addiction on and off for many years. He has now, unfortunately, had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again."

This leg of Metallica's Worldwired Tour was originally slated to begin October 17 in Perth, Australia, and wrap up November 2 in Auckland, New Zealand.

Metallica says all tickets will be refunded in full and they intend to reschedule this part of the tour once health and schedule permit.
