Listening to the Free Beer & Hot Wings Morning Show today, they mentioned their dream car that they would like to own someday. I wanted to jump on air and say what my dream car was, but that would have been awkward. Once you hear about this car, you are going to say, "He just wants it because of Back to the Future." Yes, that was the first time I saw it, but my love for the car has grown over the years. Someday, I will own it.

Metalhead Ned's Dream Car?

1981 DMC-12 DeLorean

I freakin' love this car. For car lovers, it's not the most powerful thing on the street, but I have always been a guy about turning heads. When I rarely see this thing going down the street, I get pretty excited. I want to follow it, steal it, and keep it all for myself!

I would go into the whole story about the history of the car, but that could honestly get a little boring. My first love for this car started like many people with Back to the Future. When Doc Brown rolled that stainless steel beast out of the enclosed trailer, I couldn't help but someday want to own this car.

Over the years, I have had VERY random encounters with this car as I have rarely seen one in the wild. The first time I saw one was when I was taking a walk as a young kid down the street and walked by a car garage, peered inside and saw one that was getting some small body work done. I walked into the car garage and asked if I may sit in the car! It was only for a brief, but it was awesome. Feeling a little rushed, I got out of there!

The next time was when I was working my first job at Berlin Raceway. Some guy was selling his and had it driving on the track! He then placed it in a prominent spot and I got to get up and close with it! The guy saw me as some stupid kid though and said "Don't touch it!" What a dick...but I get it.

It's been some time since I have seen one, and I can only see the car through pictures. I have never driven, rode, or even turned a key in the car! Like I said, I like to turn heads and this car does that for me every time I see one.

Everyone I think has a 'Dream Car.' Will I ever own one? Time will tell! At the time though, I have obligations like creating a family and owning a home someday. I guess that's why they call it a 'dream' right?
