Back in March of 2024, we told you that The Mermaid Bar and Grill and Baldy’s Smoked Meats at 340 Water St. had permanently closed and were up for sale. I’d eaten there and had enjoyed the food and views, so was sad to see it go. Well, now the space has new life.

Sitting right on the waterfront, the new restaurant has inside space as well as patio seating with views of sunsets and boats moving through the channel, all set up for long summer evenings in Saugatuck.

History of 340 Water Street

The property itself has been around in different forms since 1895, serving as everything from a warehouse to a blacksmith shop, fruit store, and boat livery over the years. Accroding to MLive, the current owners of the historic spot are Boat Shed Properties LLC.

Beyond seafood, the menu features prime rib, Thai chicken meatballs, burgers, salads, and more. If you're headed to Marker 14 for a meal, note that dinner items are served after 4 p.m..

Craft cocktails, wine, and beer round it out, with waterfront dining, dockside drinks, and Kalamazoo River views in Saugatuck all part of the experience.
