Leave it to Beaver Actor Tony Dow Dies at 77
Actor Tony Dow who played Wally on the television show "Leave it to Beaver" dies at the age of 77.
Leave It To Beaver
Leave it to Beaver was a television show that was on from 1957 to 1963. Although the show was before my time, still to this day, it is one of my favorites of all time.
Leave it to Beaver was centered around a young boy by the name of Theodore "The Beaver" Cleaver, played by actor Jerry Mathers. Sure this was a different time but things like going to school, getting in trouble, dealing with parents, and things just going wrong, any kid or adult can relate to.
The Beaver character had an older brother by the name of Wally played by actor Tony Dow, and actors Barbara Billingsley and Hugh Beaumont as Beaver's parents, June and Ward Cleaver.
Leave it to Beaver exemplified American life during the time it was on the air.
If you have kids, this is a great show they will be able to identify with even without all the gadgets because it goes through the same emotions kids go through at home, at school, and in life but just a simpler view. I highly recommend the show so if you catch it on TV, streaming, or on YouTube you are guaranteed to laugh and won't have to worry about a bad word or subject matter.
Actor Tony Dow Dies
Tony Dow did a wonderful job playing the part of Wally, the big brother to the Beaver on the show. His character was a big brother that looked out for his younger brother and also tried to be a voice of reason between the boys and their TV parents.
According to the Washington Post, Tony Dow died of complications from liver cancer on July 27, 2022, at the age of 77 in his home in Topanga, California.
I can still hear Dow's voice as Wally says to the Beaver, "what'd you go and do that for ya dope."
Rest in peace, Mr. Dow.
