The skating rink at Rosa Parks Circle is scheduled to close for the season next Sunday, and bad news if you still haven’t gone skating yet, the weather forecast isn’t looking good for a lot of skating this week.

Monday and Tuesday, WZZM13 meteorologists are forecasting rain and temps in the 50’s.  Thursday and Friday may lead to cooler evenings where they will be able to open the skating rink.

WZZM13 spoke with John Judnich from Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department on what kind of temps are needed to be able to ice skate this week,

"There's two compressors underneath the ice that underneath the surface that keeps us cool, and those compressors run 24 hours a day seven days a week. As long as the sunshine and temperature is reasonable--in other words, minimal sunshine and the temperature, even low-40s and no sunshine, we can maintain the ice.”
