Sunday night, the Super Bowl matchup between arguably the two best teams in the NFL this season, the Seattle Seahawks, buoyed by Sam Darnold's remarkable comeback story, and the New England Patriots, led by MVP-runner-up Drake Maye.

While everyone's eyes were on those two players, the player who ended up being the most outstanding on the world's biggest stage was actually Kenneth Walker III, the former Michigan State Spartan who was named Super Bowl 60's MVP.

Walker had 27 carries for 135 yards and 2 receptions for 26 yards. He would have had over 200 yards and a touchdown on his stat sheet, but his 49-yard run was called off for a questionable holding penalty. But Walker's 135 yards were the most by a running back in a Super Bowl since 1997.

His breakout season at MSU was one for the record books. His 2021 season ended with 1,636 yards and 18 TDs, leading the Spartans to an 11-2 record and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl victory. There was major talk about Walker being a Heisman candidate, especially after his 5 TD performance against Michigan, but ultimately finished 6th in the standings. Spartan football fans haven't had much to cheer for since he left.

He was drafted by the Seahawks with the 41st overall pick. Suffice to say that pick has paid off. His trophy case now includes the Doak Walker Award, the Walter Camp Award, and the coveted Super Bowl MVP trophy (the first running back since 1997).

Walker will be a free agent in March. His pricetag has most likely shot up quite a bit.
