For over 68 years, Kalamazoo residents had a friendly face they could look forward to every fall when their family would go to "Gene the Pumpkin Man" Rhodes' pumpkin patch. Gene was always as orange as the pumpkins he sold—hat, jacket, shirt, while driving around on an orange golf cart—and that extended to much of his belongings, too.

Sadly, this October will be a little less orange. The Pumpkin Man passed away last December, and since Gene always lived for the community, the community he loved so much will now have a chance to own a piece of the Pumpkin Man's farm via a recently announced estate sale.

In Memory of the Pumpkin Man

When we say everything on the farm is for sale, we mean almost every single thing is for sale. There are the obvious big things like Gene's iconic orange Cadillac and the tools around the farm, but the abundance of Gene's pumpkin decor, furniture, an expansive miniature Christmas village, and even an orange anvil, are also for sale.

Estate Sale Details

Due to the expected popularity of this sale and the sheer number of items available for sale, the sale will take place in two parts, with the first part taking place from May 14-17 and will focus on the contents inside the house, garage, and the larger outdoor decor.
