Restaurant Week Grand Rapids is on! There's over 60 restaurants taking part this year-- that means it can be tough deciding where to go! There are so many great places with awesome-sounding menus.

I decided to pick somewhere I've been before, but my fiance Charlie hadn't... in fact it's come up a few times where I'll say, "Oh, you know, The Green Well, we went that one time..." And he reminds me, "Janna, I wasn't there. I've never been." Oopsie. So this should make it up to him. And now when I say he's been there, I'll be correct. Haha.

The Green Well has a substantial drink menu, which we always appreciate. Lots of great Michigan beers and wine too. They even had  special Restaurant Week wine and beer pairings-- so for $15 you can get a red wine with each course, or white wine, or beer. We almost went that route, but decided to try some cocktails. I chose the Botanical Blitz, with Worker's Vodka, Brix Lemonade, lavender, mint & lemon. Yum!

We decided to go for the three courses and both ordered the same appetizer: Elote Fritters, made with Ham Family Farm dutch love corn, guajillo pepper, smoked paprika aioli, and queso chihuahua. They were crispy and delish! Loved the kick in the aoli.

For the entree, I went with the Arroz Gordo (It took me a minute, but then the translation came to me-- "Fat Rice". Haha, I get a kick out of that name.) with red curry rubbed pork tenderloin, pork meatballs, cherrystone clams, soffritto jasmine rice, and a soft boiled egg. Super tasty! And pretty! It looked so good I almost didn't want to eat it... almost.

Charlie chose the  Korean BBQ Ribs, with gochujang BBQ, kewpie mayo, kimchi, peanuts, lime, and sesame seed. He let me steal a few bites, and I really really liked that sauce too, such good flavor.

Dessert was a tough call, but our server directed us to the Russian Honey Cake with sour cream frosting, strawberry, powder, and rosemary simple syrup and Heaven and Hell Peaches with Grand Marnier marinated peaches, cracked black pepper, a coffee cookie, and vanilla ice cream. I know pepper in a dessert sounds weird, but it totally worked! And the vanilla ice cream was some of the best I've ever had.
