Kalamazoo Public Safety Rescue Child Who Was Abducted On Burdick St
The KDPS earned the appreciation of this city late last night as they made a dramatic rescue after a child was said to be abducted. According to their Facebook post, they were able to make a quick response and rescue:
KDPS responded to a kidnapping near 3000 S Burdick. With the use of technology and quick information sharing, the child was located within 25 min and is safe back with family. A Kalamazoo County resident is currently in custody regarding the kidnapping.
How Did They Find The Child So Quick?
While the AMBER Alert system is effective, one way the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety may have been able to find the child so quickly is through a program they are partnered with called ACIM (A Child Is Missing). It's a computerized system that can call up to 1000 phones per minute in an expanding radius around the last known location of where the child was seen.
The automated calls provide descriptions of the people involved and any known information, along with a callback number for sightings.
