Grand Rapids Popular Butcher Shop Sobie Meats is Sold!

For the past two decades one of the best butcher shops, meat markets, however you want to describe it, has been a favorite of people throughout the greater Grand Rapids and Walker area.

Sobie Meats, on the West Side, located on Remembrance Road for 22-years, has been the go to spot for quality meats, and with their new market, groceries, too.

But now, the name may change because Tim and Theresa Sobie have said retirement in on the horizon. As a matter of fact, it is immediate!

Boy that happened fast.

Tim and Theresa knew they wanted to retire, but wondered what would they do with the business? When word got out, in walked Amy Jones, an owner of other businesses, and she gobbled it up in six weeks. Now that is a way to do business!

Fox17 reported that Tim and Theresa really wanted to step back. When you own your own business it's big pressure. Tim said:

"When it's your business, you can pick your hours. You get to work all of them," he joked. He and his wife Theresa have property up north where he plans to become the groundskeeper, with Theresa as his assistant."

Customers don't need to worry though. Fox17 reported the staff stays, gift card are good, and community involvement will be as strong or stronger than ever. Amy said that with the incredible business that Tim and Theresa have built, she doesn't want to change a thing, just make it stronger, and maybe even bigger!
