Where To Celebrate National Ice Cream For Breakfast Day In Grand Rapids
I know, I know, there's a silly made up holiday for everything... but hey, if it gives you an excuse to less loose and indulge in some yummy food, why not? You might not have it on your calendar yet, but this Saturday is National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day!

It's actually been around for a while! The special day was created by Florence Rappaport, on a snowy winter day in Rochester New York in the 1966. The mom of six wanted to surprise her kiddos and help blast away those winter blahs. Considering how rough this winter has been here in West Michigan… yeah, we could definitely use a little of that energy right now.

So where can you celebrate Ice Cream for Breakfast Day around Grand Rapids? Most seasonal ice cream stands are still hibernating, so sure—you could grab a pint from the grocery store and eat it on your couch. Absolutely no judgment from me. But if you want to get out and really make a morning of it, there are a couple local spots going all in this Saturday!
Furniture City Creamery at 958 Cherry St. will be open 9a.m. to noon this Saturday, February 7, with a special menu. The creamery will be debuting two new flavors: Strawberry Pop Tart and Loaded French Toast. Previous favorite Blueberry Pancake with make a return as well. Try them solo or in a sundae. There's also coffee drinks and shakes that are garnished with Ollie's Donuts, which feels exactly right for this holiday!
