Danger at Trader Joe’s! Some Products May Make You Sick!
There may be some unhappy customers at Trader Joe's because they have issued a food recall due to a possible Listeria contamination.
This Trader Joe’s recall includes several products made with cotija cheese. The FDA, Food and Drug Administration, has asked them to pull the products and warn customers.
Fox17 reported that Rizo-López Foods produced the cotija cheese used to make those products. The company issued a recall earlier this week impacting multiple brands.
Here is what the FDA says are the Trader Joe’s products impacted:
Chicken Enchiladas Verde (SKU 58292)
Cilantro Salad Dressing (SKU 36420)
Elote Chopped Salad Kit (SKU 74768)
Southwest Salad (SKU 56077)
So far, there is evidence of adverse reactions and people getting sick reported, but Listeria is nothing to mess around with.
The CDC says signs and symptoms can vary, depending on the person. The bacteria are most likely to sicken people who are pregnant and their newborns, adults aged 65 or older, and people with weakened immune systems. Other people can be infected with Listeria, but they rarely become seriously ill.
Symptoms are typically:
- Fever
- Flu-like symptoms, such as muscle aches and fatigue
- Headache
- Stiff neck
- Confusion
- Loss of balance
- Seizures
All Trader Joe's shoppers who bought any of these products are urged to throw the affected products away or return them for refunds.
