Should There Be New Michigan Colors for Crayons?
Crayola is always creating new colors for our favorite crayons. Earlier this year Crayola brought back, un-retired, some colors we haven't seen for several years, and coloring fans were thrilled.
The new colors are all bright and happy colors, but as I was looking at our Michigan cold, snowy and frosty weather, I began thinking why don't they add a special color in honor of Michigan?

There have been several comments on Reditt.com/Michigan, that should be submitted to Crayola for consideration, and I'm not talking about Maze and Blue, or Green and White.
Commenters are suggesting Michigan Gray! After all, that is the color we see the most around here in late fall and winter.
Or, how about Brown.
And we can't forget our favorite summer time color, Smoke.
I don't know but there may be something here. But think about it, there is nothing exciting in these colors that kids, who are most of the coloring crowd, would want to use.
WHAT COLORS DID CRAYOLA BRING BACK?
So, the website Jenny's Crayon Collection says Crayola did decide to create some excitement by un-retiring:
"Mulberry which was a new color in 1958
Orange Red was also a new color in 1958
Violet Blue it too was new in 1958
Blizzard Blue was was introduced in 1972
Dandelion came out in 1990
Magic Mint also came out in 1990
And two very "old timers" that go way back.
Lemon Yellow is back, and it was an original color in 1903
And, Raw Umber also was one of the originals from 1903"
It was also a big surprise this year since, for the first time, "Crayola has intentionally matched the crayon, colored pencil and marker colors." This has never been done before according to Jenny's Crayon Collection website.
There you go. That should make it a bit more exciting while you color, don't you think?
I don't know. I'm kind of rooting for Michigan Gray, Brown and Smoke. (Maybe)
