The return of baseball season in West Michigan also means the return of one of my favorite traditions of the year: eating my way through the menu at LMCU Ballpark.

And great news for foodies like me: the West Michigan Whitecaps have officially brought back their annual Fan Food Vote, giving fans the chance to help decide what will be added to the concession menu this season.

Each year, the Whitecaps invite fans to submit their most creative and over the top food ideas. From there, the team’s internal Whitecaps Deliciousness Committee narrows the submissions down to five finalists. This year’s finalists cover a wide range of flavors and concepts, and as someone who looks forward to ballpark food just as much as the baseball itself, this lineup might be one of the most interesting yet.

The 2026 Fan Food Vote Nominees for the West Michigan Whitecaps

The first option is The Mac Bat. This creation puts mac and cheese and pulled pork inside a waffle cone and finishes it with a drizzle of barbecue sauce. It is handheld comfort food that feels tailor made for a summer night at the ballpark.

Next up is The Fried Pickle Quesadilla, which layers fried pickle chips and melted pepper jack cheese inside a golden flour tortilla. It is served with a side of ranch, making it a strong contender for anyone who believes fried pickles belong in every food group.

The Pig Ear builds off an existing Whitecaps favorite. The team’s classic Elephant Ear is loaded with pulled pork, apple filling, slaw, diced onions, and barbecue sauce. It combines sweet and savory flavors into one dish that certainly would not go unnoticed in the stands.

Then there is The Fat Crash Slammy. This option piles chicken tenders, fries and cheese curds into a long roll and smothers it in marinara sauce. It is the kind of ballpark meal that requires both hands and possibly a plan.

Rounding out the finalists is The Elote Brat. The brat is served on a pretzel bun and topped with Mexican street corn, crema, cotija cheese and crispy tortilla strips. It blends traditional ballpark fare with bold flavors and feels like a natural fit for a summer menu.

Voting is open now through March 6, and fans can cast their ballots to decide which of these five creations will take the field, at least from a culinary standpoint. The winning dish will make its debut when the Whitecaps return to LMCU Ballpark for Opening Day on April 7. You can vote on your favorite here.

For many West Michigan fans, the start of the Whitecaps season signals the beginning of summer. This year, it also means one fan inspired creation will officially become part of the experience at the ballpark.
