It’ll Cost You To Park At The Beach In Muskegon This Summer

The popular Pere Marquette Beach in Muskegon will begin charging parking fees after Memorial Day.

The City of Muskegon has announced they are moving forward with their plan to charge for parking at the popular Pere Marquette City Beach.

Parking kiosks will be installed by Memorial Day to charge non-city residents for parking along the beachfront.

The fees will help pay for the high cost of maintaining the beachfront, which the City of Muskegon estimates to be around $500,000 per year.

Currently, city residents pay for the upkeep through their taxes, even though estimates show that 60% of the beach usage is from visitors from the West Michigan area or from out of state.

The new fees will not apply to current city residents.
