Speaking of focaccia, there is a bakery in West Michigan that is bringing Italian bread to our community.

Michele Minghetti, a 25-year-old Grand Valley State University graduate, and his brother Raffaele co-founded Dante's Bakery.

While in college, Michele noticed the lack of Italian food in West Michigan, which solidified the need for authentic focaccia.

Michele's goal is to bring a little of Italy to West Michigan in the most authentic way. Michele told ABC 13,

"You kind of almost taste Italy - that's my goal. So you don't have to travel around the world to go to Italy, you can just have one of our flatbread or our Focaccia, put it in the oven for couple of minutes, heat it up, then you can eat it and you say. 'Oh my gosh, I feel like I was in Italy."

Where did they get the name, Dante?

"Dante Alighieri is considered the father of the Italian language; his fame is eminently due to The Divine Comedy, his best-known work, which is universally considered the greatest work written in the Italian language and one of the greatest masterpieces of world literature," according to the website

According to their website, Dante's Bakery's recipe for focaccia is "closely linked to Genova and Ligurian cuisine."
