Indoor Dining Possibly Restricted Until February 1

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Service's restriction of indoor dining was supposed to be lifted this Friday. It's now expected to be extended until February 1.

The Michigan Licensed Beverage Association went to Facebook saying the extension will give owners time to work with their supply chain and figure out staffing. The revision will likely come with limited capacity and curfew rules.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is hosting a press conference on Wednesday at noon where she is expected to make an announcement related to bars and restaurants re-opening.

The Michigan Licensed Beverage Association stated,

"Although we are disappointed with the idea of being closed for another two weeks, finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel is certainly reassuring."

Multiple bars and restaurants across the state have faced fines and license suspensions for opening during the pause. The ban on indoor dining began on March 16, 2020. Restaurants reopened in the summer for a bit only to be shut down again before the holidays.
