A high school hockey player in Connecticut named Doug Caliendo had an emotional rollercoaster of a day Wednesday.

Just hours after his father, Lou Caliendo, passed away after a long battle with stomach cancer, Doug took to the ice with the rest of his Notre Dame-West Haven hockey team to do battle against Northwest Catholic. The end of the game was something that his father definitely would have been proud of.

The teams were tied at the end of regulation, and Caliendo scored the game-winning goal in overtime, to help his team win with a score of 3-2.

After scoring the goal, Doug pointed to the sky, paying homage to his father and possibly thanking him for helping him get through the game and score the goal.
