Griffins Offer Boy Tickets After No One Shows Up to His Birthday Party
What started off as a disappointing birthday ended with a young hockey fan making friends all over the world!
Fox 17 reports that Jason Foster took to Twitter last weekend after none of his son’s friends showed up for the 11-year-old's birthday party.
Kade is a big hockey fan, so he was wearing a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey in the picture and had a hockey-themed cake. Foster tagged two Toronto Maple Leafs players saying,
My son Kade had his 11th birthday party last night. None of his invited friends came. That hurt. I’m asking my Twitter friends to show him some love today. If you have a minute, please send him a birthday wish."
Thousands of people, including the Grand Rapids Griffins, responded.
Bob Kaser, Griffins radio play-by-play voice and vice president of the team, reached out to Kade's family. Kaser offered them free tickets to the March 19 Griffins’ game against the Toronto Marlies, who are the AHL-affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Kade’s favorite team.
Kade's Dad shared how grateful they are for all the messages and the kindness shown to the family, saying,
We can't comprehend what has happened today. Kade and the rest of us are jus amazed. To everyone who sent Kade a message, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. He is an amazing son and he will never forget this day.
