Lots of people who were let go of their jobs and have been living off unemployment are now trying to figure out what the next step is.

If you find yourself in this position, pull out the calendar app on your phone and save the date for Tuesday, July 7.

The staffing and recruitment agency, Workforce Strategies, Inc (WSI) will be hosting a job fair with over 200 positions available from various companies

...in industries ranging from food manufacturing, light industrial, aerospace, facility services, and more.

Open interviews will be held outside of WSI Grand Rapids at 1960 28th St. SE in Grand Rapids from 11a-4p. There will be a tent with hot dogs on the grill. Masks and hand sanitizer will be provided for everyone who attends. Two forms of identification will be needed at the event.

Jobs include material handlers, packers, warehouse associates, machine operators, cleaners, and much more. Pay ranges from $10 to $16 per hour. MLive says there will be over 20 companies meeting with potential employees.

If you are unable to attend, you can still apply online. Start here.

Industries all across the nation are hiring in large numbers, such as fast food chains.

There's also opportunities for the young people in Grand Rapids. The City enacted a new program, GRow1000, with the mission to hire 1,000 young adults (ages 15-21) this summer for 20 hours per week of work. Hurry, though! Deadline to apply for this is June 29.

Since the start of the pandemic, 33 million people filed for unemployment in the U.S. and now collect benefits but those will be coming to an end on July 31 (via WSI).
