Why Are M1 Abrams Tanks Heading to Grand Rapids?
With protests and the National Guard in Los Angeles, I can see why tanks on trucks headed toward Grand Rapids may be alarming.
Are Tank Bases Active in Grand Rapids?
I bet it costs a fortune to ship a tank, but, we as American citizens are footing the bill. Some tanks were spotted on the back of trailers headed toward Grand Rapids, and it got me thinking: Are there any bases in the area that would have tanks?
The US Army and the US Marine Corps Reserves in Grand Rapids are not active tank bases. There is a US Army Reserve facility in Muskegon that could potentially house or train personnel involved with tanks, but it is not listed as an official tank base.

Why Are Tanks Heading Toward Grand Rapids? Here’s What Locals Think
Recently, a poster on the Grand Rapids Reddit page reported spotting M1 Abrams Tanks on trucks heading toward Grand Rapids. Locals chimed in on where they believe the tanks were headed.
I thought the same. I have been driving to and from work on US 131 for nearly 8 years now, and I see military vehicles heading north for training in the warmer months.
This post was probably not helpful, but it did make me laugh.
There are definitely tank trails in Grayling where the National Guard holds training. Many years ago, I was playing in a band in Grayling and met a female sergeant who took me for a ride in an Army tank, and it was one of the coolest things I had ever done because of a gig.
Sounds like this guy knows what he's talking about, so I think we know where the tanks were going.

Let's hope this poster is completely wrong.
