This morning, a gas main break closed the 48th Street/Lincoln Avenue intersection in Holland.

Traffic is being rerouted and authorities are asking motorists to avoid the area.

It was originally believed that the leak would keep the intersection closed several days, but now the repair is expected to be much faster.

WZZM 13 reports:

Holland Police say an intersection will remain closed until this evening following a major natural gas line break.

The department of public safety is not evacuating businesses or residents because high wind speed and a favorable wind direction was helping disperse the natural gas.
