Founders Brewing Donates Food To Local Food Banks
Founders Brewing Company is spreading some good during a difficult time.
With Founders' taprooms in Grand Rapids and Detroit closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the brewery has donated their extra food to their employees and local food banks.
In a post to Facebook, Founders said additional food from their Grand Rapids taproom went to Feeding America West Michigan and in Detroit, to Gleaners Community Foodbank:
As many of you know, both of our taprooms are shut down through April 5 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We didn't want to see any food from our kitchens go to waste, so we donated as much as possible to our hard-working employees. We're happy to share that the remainder of the donate-able food from the Grand Rapids taproom is heading to our friends at Feeding America West Michigan and food from our Detroit taproom is going to Gleaners Community Food Bank.
Founders Brewing will be closed until April 5th. The brewery has said they'll continue to pay their employees during the closure. The announcement of Founders' closure came just before Governor Whitmer mandated Michigan bars and restaurants close their dining rooms to slow the spread of COVID-19.
