Michigan Bars and Restaurants to Close at 3 p.m. Today Due to Coronavirus Concerns
All Michigan bars and restaurants will close their dining rooms and become take-out only as of 3 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020 according to the Detroit Free Press.
The move comes as many have already made the decision on their own after the Kent County Health Department ordered that all eating and drinking establishments cut their capacity by half to help with social distancing.
The closure also affects:
- Cafes
- Coffee houses
- Taverns
- Brewpubs
- Distillerie
- Clubs
- Movie theaters
- Indoor and outdoor performance venues
- Gymnasiums
- Fitness centers
- Recreation centers
- Indoor sports facilities
- Indoor exercise facilities
- Exercise studios
- Spas
- Casinos
Restaurants and other businesses offering carry-out can allow five people inside at a time to pick up orders, as long as they stay six feet apart.
Bars and restaurants have already been closed in Ohio, Illinois, Massachusetts, and California.
At this time, the plan is to reopen on Monday, March 30 at 11:59 p.m.
