A former baby and children's store is getting new life as an alcohol mega-shop.

MiBiz reports that national retailer Total Wine & More is planning to open its first Michigan location where Babies R Us once stood on 28th Street. They're leasing the building from an affiliate of Grand Rapids-based Edmark Development Co., who have owned it since 1998.

An expansive beer, wine and liquor store will occupy the 34,250-square-foot space at 4923 28th St. SE in Cascade Township.

Babies R Us closed on 28th Street in 2018; Bed Bath and Beyond remains open in the same strip mall.

Total Wine & More started in 1991 when brothers David and Robert Trone opened a small store in Delaware. Currently Total Wine & More operates 205 superstores across 24 states. According to their website,

Our typical store carries more than 8,000 different wines from every wine-producing region in the world. The typical Total Wine & More also carries more than 2,500 beers, from America‘s most popular brands to hard-to-find microbrews and imports, and more than 3,000 different spirits in every style and price range.
