Eagles of Death Metal Cover Mary J. Blige + More for New Album

Eagles of Death Metal will release a new album of cover songs this summer. The effort, titled Eagles of Death Metal Present Boots Electric Performing The Best Songs We Never Wrote, will be released on June 7. The album features a variety of covers running the gamut from KISS, Guns N’ Roses, AC/DC to a more unexpected cover of Mary J. Blige’s “Family Affair,” which is available for streaming now. Frontman Jesse "Boots Electric" Hughes recorded and co-produced the effort comprised of 13 songs that he loves. He tips a hat to his EODM co-founder Josh Homme by covering Queens of the Stone Age’s “Long Slow Goodbye” and also gives a nod to Homme’s wife, Brody Dalle, with a version of The Distillers’ The Hunger.”

Eagles of Death Metal Present Boots Electric Performing The Best Songs We Never Wrote boasts an eclectic list of covers including KISS’ “God of Thunder,” Guns N’ Roses’ “It’s So Easy,” the Ramones’ “Beat on the Brat,” The Pixies’ “Gouge Away,” Steve Miller Band’s “Abracadabra,” Cat Stevens' “Trouble,” and a few not so obvious choices including George Michael’s “Careless Whisper” and Kenny Rogers & The First Editions’ “Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Is In.” See the complete track list below.

The effort follows EODM’s limited edition vinyl-only release Eagles of Death Metal Present: Pigeons of Shit Metal, which features some of the same tracks as their forthcoming effort.

The album is available for preorder now at this location and will be available on CD, 180-gram black vinyl and a limited edition 180-gram red and blue marble swirl vinyl LP and digitally, It will be released worldwide on June 7.
