ArtPrize goers at one of the event's largest venues got a surprise on Friday: a visit from Donald Trump.

The Democratic Presidential nominee made an unexpected stop at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum before a fundraising event at the JW Marriott.

Trump was accompanied by former New York City Mayor, Rudy Guiliani.

In a brief interview with WZZM-13, Trump said

"We have a lot of respect for Gerald Ford, we always have. ... He was a very good person and a great human being -- a very good leader, and very loyal to this area.

"Well, I don't read USA TODAY. It's not much of a newspaper as far as I'm concerned. ... All I know is we're leading in the polls, we're doing well, we have the pulse of the nation."

According to WZZM-13, the latest national polls from RealClearPolitics shows Hillary Clinton up about 3 points nationally and about 5 points over Trump in Michigan.

Following his stop at the Gerald R. Ford Museum, Trump headed to a fundraiser at the JW Marriott and spoke briefly at Kent County GOP headquarters.

Afterward, Trump travelled to Novi for a rally, then on to a fundraiser in Detroit.
