It's been said before that bad things come in threes, and that appears to be the case after three beloved celebrities have passed away over the last week. Actress Hayden Panettiere tragically passed away at the age of 36 on August 16th, and yesterday, both actor Tim Curry and country star and beloved philanthropist Dolly Parton passed away on August 25th.

The latter was without a doubt one of the most beloved people in the entire world, and her loss has spurred an outpouring of tributes from Eminem, Jack White, and even President Donald Trump. Everyone has celebrated her life in their own way, but Trump's tribute to the Backwoods Barbie is incredibly unique.

Flags At Half-Mast For Dolly

In a post on Truth Social, the President said that, in her honor, American flags across the US will be lowered to half-staff for the next week. Generally, the flag flies at half-staff when the country is mourning or a tragedy has taken place; it is usually reserved for government officials, military members, and first responders.

Even if you didn't know her music, you know of Dolly Parton. From her philanthropic work toward childhood literacy through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and Dollywood Foundation to funding medical research, she was more than just a country star.

For a "regular citizen" to be the subject of a week-long mourning period only further emphasizes how special and beloved she was to everyone. The flags will be raised back to full on September 1st.
