Distracted Driving in Michigan Includes More Than You Think
Texting and driving has been against the law in Michigan since 2010, but did you know there are other actions that could get you pulled over?
A post is circulating on Facebook reminding drivers of all the things that can fall under "Distracted Driving".
Many of these are included on the Michigan State Police's website as well.
According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, distracted driving is the leading factor in most crashes; Distracted driving claimed 3,450 lives in 2016 alone.
Here are a few of MSP's suggestions for staying attentive while driving:
- Get familiar with vehicle features and equipment before you start driving.
- Preset your radio and AC/ Heat
- Secure items that could move around when car is in motion
- Do not text, get online, watch videos, play video games, search MP3 devices, or use any other distracting technology while driving.
