Coopersville Plans to Open First Brewery
While it might seem that West Michigan is bursting with breweries, there's one area without one: Coopersville. Jeremy Grossenbacher, a Coopersville native, craft beer enthusiast and local business owner, hopes to change that.
WZZM-13 reports Grossenbacher, whose family owns Fun-N-Sun RV, plans to open the city's first brewery.
Grossenbacher told WZZM-13,
"When I looked at a [brewery] map, and you see all these pins dotting the Grand Rapids area...and they're really starting to get more and more on the lakeshore, there's this big yellow line that's 96 on a map that runs between it – and there's nothing."
He says he hopes to bring people to Coopersville who otherwise might not have a reason to visit.
Grossenbacher is partnering Jim Goodburn, the former head brewer at Grand Armory in Grand Haven to open Coopersville Brewing Company in a currently empty building on W. Randal Street, next to Fun-N-Sun RV.
The pair is reaching out to investors and then plan to obtain proper licensing. They hope to open Coopersville Brewing Company within the year.
