Now that it’s starting to warm up, it’s only a matter of time before construction season starts again, and we’re already starting to hear about some of the major projects planned for this year.

One of the projects will be the rebuilding of northbound 131 between 10-mile road and 14-mile road, which means plenty of lane closures and delays until November when the project is expected to wrap up.

MDOT is hosting a public meeting at the Algoma Township Hall to answer questions and explain their plan for the rebuild of northbound 131.  The “open house” will last from 4-6pm on Wednesday, March 7th.

Back in December Fox17 reported on MDOT’s plan to utilize a moveable barrier along the construction route, so they could open two lanes in the morning for southbound traffic and then around noon, move the barrier over so northbound will have two lanes for the afternoon. They also plan to use a new sturdier, longer lasting pavement and improve the drainage along that area of the highway.

The Algoma Township Hall is located at 10531 Algoma Ave NE, just south of 13-mile road.
