It's road construction time in Grand Rapids. There are some roads you might want to avoid in the month of May.

As of December 1, 2022, Market Ave. downtown Grand Rapids is back open after being closed for several months for construction. This comes after Fulton Street was reopened last week.

This is normally the time of year that road construction projects are wrapping up and the orange construction barrels are put into storage until next spring.

Orange barrels are showing up on area roadways now that construction season is underway. Two new construction projects will begin on Monday, April 18th.

Slow down! This week is National Work Zone Awareness Week. It's an effort to remind drivers to slow down in construction zones so workers can go home to their families.

Getting anywhere quickly on US-131 through Grand Rapids this weekend may be close to impossible. Double lane closures for road work will be in place on Saturday and Sunday.

MDOT is wrapping up the 96/196 flip and has ended the lane closure after Fuller Ave and re-opened the Beltline exit for I-196 eastbound.
