A security guard for the Gerald R. Ford International Airport was hurt and several cars were destroyed during a car fire in the parking garage Sunday evening.

Around 9 p.m. Sunday a car caught fire on the second level of the parking garage. The flames from the initial fire spread to six other cars, at least two of which were destroyed.

The security guard was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters at the airport were able to put the fire out quickly. The garage was closed for about an hour so that smoke could be cleared from the area.
