What Is Canicross?

Canicross is a sport where a dog and a human run together as a team. In canicross, the dog runs in front and the runner guides the dog with verbal commands. The dog can run next to the runner.

No matter what your dog's breed is or its size it can do canicross as long as you know the limits of your dog. Just like humans, if your dog has some sort of severe health problem you may want to check with your veterinarian if you have any questions.

What Equipment is Used for Canicross?

There is not a lot of gear needed for you and your dog to compete in canicross. All you need are a canicross harness, a bungee line, a canicross belt, and a good pair of running shoes (for you, not your dog).

Canicross is Coming To West Michigan

Canicross is coming to Cannonsburg Ski Area on April 16. Don't worry if you are just a beginner but like to run with your dog because there are several divisions that have lots of different skill levels so all runners and dogs can participate.

If you want to be a part of canicross but your dog has not been training and likes to take sniffing breaks there is a 1-mile fun/walk for dogs who are just happy to be outside with their owner.

There will be food and drinks for dogs and humans because everyone needs to stay hydrated, especially the dogs.
