Astronaut Tweets Photo of Detroit from Space [Photo]
Astronaut Scott Kelly tweeted a friendly hello to residents of Detroit from 249 miles up in space Wednesday.
Kelly snapped a photo of the city, the Detroit River, Windsor and part of Belle Isle from the International Space Station and shared it via Twitter along with his greeting "#Detroit. Pleased to make your acquaintance. #YearInSpace."
Kelly and Russian Cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko are residing on the International Space Station for a full year (that's their actual mission). That's twice as long as a normal American astronaut's mission.
During his time on the Space Station, Kelly has has taken amazing photos of the auroras, North African deserts, New York, Hawaii, the mountains of West Virginia.
The two men will return to Earth in March 2016.
