The "Queen of Soul", Aretha Franklin, will perform in Muskegon for the first time almost 20 years this summer.

Ian Vanbiesbrouck, who is the assistant general manager at L.C. Walker Arena, said in a news release Monday that Franklin will perform at L.C. Walker on Saturday, Aug. 16.

Franklin has already played Radio City Music Hall in New York and will be performing in the Detroit area at DTE Energy Music Theatre on July 12.

According to the release, tickets will go on sale as early as this week and as late as next week.

Franklin, best known for her hits "Respect," "Natural Woman," "Rock Steady" and "Chain of Fools," last performed in Muskegon in June 1995. She was the opening act for the now-defunct Muskegon Summer Celebration.

Concert organizers have yet to finalize ticket prices and the opening act.
