Have You Heard of the Tiny Town of Maybee, Michigan?
Maybee was established in 1873 and then incorporated as a village in 1899. Maybee puts the "small" in "small town" because it is only two square miles in size. You can find it about 12 miles northwest of Monroe.
Maybee began as a railway town for Canada Southern Railway that primarily transported goods like charcoal and other forest products.
Maybee is an agricultural town that still exists and of course, there is a grain elevator. The village hosts a few dozen small businesses, a few places to eat, and there is even a stone quarry near downtown.
As of the 2020 census, the population of Maybee was 545 so that number may be a little higher since that was three years ago. The Village of Maybee has a slogan that reads, "The Best Little Town in Michigan." If you are ever near Monroe, you may want to stop in to find out for yourself.
