Man Uses Wood Washed A Shore From Muskegon Lake To Build Guitar
A Muskegon man was given some wood that washed a shore from Muskegon Lake and has since turned that find into a custom hand-built guitar that you could own.

At one time, Muskegon Lake was a logging meca back in the mid to late 1800s.
Muskegon Lake once had 46 sawmills that were running all around the lake.
Logging in the 1800s was before big trucks, chainsaws, and logging machines, logging then was done the old-fashioned way by hand saws, leverage sticks, horses, sleds, wagons, and water.
A lot of the wood that moved around in Muskegon Lake and sank to the bottom is very valuable. Once you dry that wood out, furniture makers, artists, and builders of stringed instruments want that wood to make their products because it is some of the best timber and you can't find wood like this anymore.

His name is Glen Perry and even though he builds guitars, he actually never learned to play one.
According to FOX 17, a shop owner upstairs from Perry's shop found a wood burl on the shore of Muskegon Lake and gave it to him. It wound up being white pine which is very valuable when it's over one hundred and fifty years old and has sat at the bottom of a lake.
